I thought I would go into the weekend sharing this beautiful Fleetwood Mac song . Landslide was written by Stevie Nicks for the 1975 album Fleetwood Mac. 37 years ago. Do you believe it? I've always been a fan of their music, but I didn't really connect with the words of this song until more recently.
Landslide
by
Stevie Nicks
Took this love and I took it down
Climbed a mountain and I turned around
And I saw my reflection in the snow covered hills
Till the landslide brought me down
Oh, mirror in the sky, what is love?
Can the child within my heart rise above?
And can I sail through the changing ocean tides
Can I handle the seasons of my life?
Oh oh I don't know, oh I don't know
Well, I've been afraid of changing
'Cause I've built my life around you
But time makes you bolder
Children get older I'm getting older too
Yes I'm getting older too, so
I've been afraid of changing
'Cause I, I've built my life around you
But time makes you bolder
Children get older
I'm getting older too oh yes
I'm getting older too
So, take this love, take it down
Oh if you climb a mountain and you turn around
If you see my reflection in the snow covered hills
Well the landslide will bring you down, down
And if you see my reflection in the snow covered hills
Well maybe the landslide will bring you down
Well well, the landslide will bring you down
I don't know where that young woman found the insight to ask herself the questions she asked. Can the child within her survive and can she handle the seasons of her life. I know I didn't look forward in my life like that. That's how an artist thinks. When I came to a crossroad in my life, it was never so poetic. I think there were tears and whining involved.
Looking back, as I've gotten older, I see there have been many peaks and valleys, ( I like flatland, no peaks and valleys please) but I have managed to avoid that darn landslide. Maybe it's that time has made me bolder too.

Very thought provoking post.
I didn't know all the words to the song - but I've always like it.
Great post! I'm with you on the "flatlands" of life. My saying always is "I don't like the boat to rock. I like smooth sailing!" Which of course, isn't always the case, but I've been pretty fortunate....(knocking on wood!)
I suppose I am getting into the winter of my life..and the land slide is death? Maybe..Oh I like the flatlands too..too much excitement is not a good thing:)
Sweetie, one of my favorite songs. Thanks for putting the words where I could really read and think about them. It is so much easier to put blinders on than it is to face the tough questions of our lives.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Gosh! I haven't heard this song in such a long time. The words are very thought provoking.
Stevie Nick was "older than her years" - possibly because of the lifestyle that the bandmembers had... Might not approve of the lifestyle - but it sure made for a lot of wonderful music.
I think its along the lines of "you have to be depressed or blue" to "write really good stuff."
I've always favored Christie... her voice drove me crazy... Like in Songbird for one..
Woohoo!!! It's a great song and it too means more to me now than it did back in the day!
God bless and have a magnificent week sweetie!!! :o)
