I'm back from my Florida St. Pete/Tampa trip. I got home days a few days before all the fury of tropical storm Debby hit that area. My cousin Kelly and family live in Tampa and on a higher elevation than some areas, so she has been texting me that they have no flooding..
The first two days we were there, though, we spent at the most adorable "Old Florida" style guestrooms in St. Pete's on Tampa Bay. Exactly! That's where all the rain has been for days. I hope our little oasis is safe.
First, I have to share this photo. I have said many times, that I am not a good flyer, but I'm first at the gate to go. This is the seat across the aisle from me on my Delta Connection flight into Atlanta. Nothing like seeing Delta Duct Tape holding the armrest on for reassuance is there?
The units we had were one bedroom/one bath (to the left) with a connecting door (to the right) to the next unit. Cousin Kelly, her daughter Kate and her Mom Sylvia shared one and my sister, Judy and I shared the other. It was perfect.
Those huge buildings on each side of this little bit of paradise are condos.
Condos with no balconies facing the beach. This view shows, from the beach, how massive these things are. Why would you build condos on such expensive land with no balconies? I think the next question is why would you buy one? Do you think they are that much less expensive, due to the lack of a balcony, compared to others with one? You can tell I'm a bit puzzled by that.
The reunion was a great success. We had not been together in at least 25 years and we all got along like no time had passed. It's so nice to have them back in my life again.

So glad you had a good time and were unbothered by Debby. The photo of the Delta duct tape gives this white-knuckle flier the shivers!! Welcome home!
Welcome back! Glad your trip was a success :) My brother called this week (from Lake City, Fla.) to say that they had received 13 inches of rain in ONE DAY!
That duct tape just makes me nervous...
Why, indeed, would anyone build a condo on a beach without a balcony???
Those were some sick builders either that or foreign:(
I am glad you had a good time and are safely back home:)
Good to hear that you are back home safe and sound and that you had a great time! The duct tape would have made me a little worried! And I wonder why anyone would want a condo on the water without a balcony?
I'm glad you got home safe and sound. It's sad that the flooding has ruined so many homes. I watch footage of it on TV every night. It's great that your reunion was a success.
A person could be in Colorado Springs, Colorado burning in hell, lived in Aurora and Arvada Colorado suburbs of Denver, we had a lovely home in Aurora, those fires would not start there I will tell you that for sure, would never consider living outside of Denver in those hills in Boulder, Fort Collins which is flat, Colorado Springs, which is nestled in a semi-valley with big mountains..no never, who builds several million dollar priced homes in any hills in a state with no water, dry dry andmore dry, loved hiking everyday, no rain blue skies, when it snows it dissapates in an hour or so, most mountains to climb but fire danger all around it is a dry state so a little rain or a lot is far different than no water at all..I don't get Florida at all swamp is what it was built all those homes, disney, sea world resorts on swamp places, they try to sell anyone anything there, funny laws, too many people and cons-outlaws, maybe for one day or two but to live in no no and more no..Love your blog..get a kick out of your baby boomer writings!!!!!!!!!!
You know... I've never been to Florida, but it's on my bucket list. I'm glad you made it back safely despite the duct tape.
I fear that the duct tape on the seat might have been reason enough to turn back ... but then I hate flying, so it wouldn't take much to convince me not to fly. ;-)
I certainly wouldn't buy a condo on the beach that didn't have a balcony. At least they have large windows for viewing the Gulf ... but that wouldn't be enough to suit me. ;-)
I wouldn't buy a condo on a beach for anything. I bet there are some "good buys" out there now with the housing market crash.
Delta is really becoming a 3d world airline. They used to have such things as pride, service, and make you enjoy flying - not any more... and Delta is really risking things flying the old junk that they do...
I make that comment as someone that had to evacate one of their jets on the taxiway in Atlanta when a engine started smoking heavily (they claimed it wasn't on fire). Those slides are no fun and its no dun waiting for hours on end for your flight to finally get off the ground.
