October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

One in four women suffer some form of Domestic Violence.  Look at your loved ones.  If it is you, tell someone.  Nearly every town has a Domestic Violence Hot line.   Love doesn't hurt.  Love doesn't make you cry.

I was able to escape a 9 year violent relationship and marriage, solely to protect oldest daughter when she was 2 years old. I didn't realize I was worth saving too.   For me,coming to terms with physical violence was faster than getting past the verbal abuse.   It's all possible with support.

Don't give up on your mother, daughter, sister, friend.  Everyone has their own limit.  Some never find the inner strength.  They need you even more.

yep, been there done that too. And you're right the verbal sticks with you. I've been divorced from him since 2000. I still have trust issues and I continue to be single, by choice.

I'm so glad you were able to get out of that violent marriage. The verbal abuse is almost as destructive. I got that quite a lot from a family member when I was young. It took me years to get over it and be able to stand up for myself.

I so glad you found the strength.
When it comes to our kids it's amazing what we can do. I am proud of you.

So glad you were able to get out of your violent situation; so glad there are organizations that can help people leave such relationships and there is awareness about domestic violence with this month being dedicated to it.

I'm glad you escaped too.

It saddens me to see women "putting up with abuse" because they don't think they "are better than that" - and there are a lot of nice guys out there - that are alone.

Thank God you found the strength to escape. Many don't. Thank you for the post. You might just save someone's life with it.

I have advocated for women my whole life, my family was pretty abusive to me, got away when I was 18, never looked back, I have nothing to do with them and I am happy as can be..I will not stand by and let anyone say anything to anyone abusive..my hubby a sweetheart of a person, adorable young adult daughter, in this the greatest country in the world it is shameful some think it ok to abuse a woman and children, animals, men, etc..Nope I won't tolerate one iota of that crap..Married many years and happy as can be, and think women, children, older folks, men and animals are definitely worth standing up for! congratulations for being so brave and getting out of an abusive relationship and to spread the word about domestic violence it can happen to any person or animal etc..luv your blog a lot..just sayiny, mjs

Thank you so much for this post. It is so important to keep this topic open. October, as you know from my own writing, is a tough month for me and I find it ironic it is domestic violence awareness month. Peace, my friend.
